Who was Dale Carnegie? First you must understand who he was not. Dale Carnegie was not a man afraid to pursue his dreams. Dale Carnegie was not someone who was hesitant to roll up his sleeves, logging hours in his pursuit of personal growth. And most of all, Dale Carnegie was not a stranger to success.

Over the course of 100 years, Dale Carnegie has witnessed the world experiencing its most rapid cycles of change and advancement. We have been at the forefront, guiding our clients to outpace their competition.

Our History

Dale Carnegie was born in Missouri and became a salesman and aspiring actor after being educated at Warrensburg State Teachers College. Later, he travelled to New York and began teaching communications classes to adults at the YMCA.
1888
The world-famous Dale Carnegie® Course began, where he discovered and developed new techniques that made speakers unafraid to address a public audience. Carnegie had tapped into the average person’s desire to have more self-confidence.
1912
Dale Carnegie began recruiting individuals interested in professional improvement, to license the course throughout the country.
1930
Dale Carnegie penned his renowned book “How to Win Friends and Influence People.” Still a popular book today, Dale Carnegie’s four part book contains advice on how to create success in business and personal lives.
1936
Dale Carnegie’s company became incorporated as Dale Carnegie & Associates, Inc. The 1950’s also marked a period of expansion into Europe, Australia, Asia, and South America.
1954
Responding to changing management needs, the first Dale Carnegie® Training leadership courses were created, and would eventually grow into our core program: Leadership Training for Managers.
1967
The course curriculum expanded with the addition of Customer Service Courses and Personal Development Training.
1972
The Dale Carnegie® training courses were awarded accreditation by the Continuing Education Council. Today, they are known as the Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training (ACCET).
1975
Dale Carnegie’s Strategic Presentations Workshop was developed.
1985
Dale Carnegie® began offering tailored corporate training solutions worldwide.
1992
All locally sponsored DDale Carnegie® Training organizations in the U.S. were approved through the GSA Federal Supply Schedule #GS-10F-0329K to offer their products and services to federal government agencies.
2001
In 2012 Dale Carnegie® Training celebrated our 100 year anniversary. For more than a century, we’ve helped communities everywhere prosper by improving the personal and financial well-being of the people who live there, and the companies that do business there.

Dale Carnegie’s legacy is as strong as ever. With a roster of over 8 million graduates, Dale Carnegie® is dedicated to serving the business community worldwide. Currently, there are over 2,700 professional trainers who deliver Dale Carnegie® courses in over 85 countries and 30 languages.
